Autumn Colours, Peterborough Speedway Oct 11th

This was our final race night of 2008. The Hurricanes put on a caution-free feature with 11 cars making the green flag. Cale Bailey #67 took the checkers in dominating fashion over Brian Woodland #48, followed by Nathan Meneely #13 and Brent McLean #47. It was a clean race with all drivers making a great effort for the final points night! See our points standings for the full results. Also check out the Copier Cup section sponsored by Better Business Equipment!

Flamboro Speedway Octoberfest Sat Oct 4

The day was cool and cloudy but no rain (for a change) and 14 Hurricanes came out to try their luck with only 2 races left for 2008! Heat action saw the #13 Nathan Meneely dominate heat 1 with the rest of the field battling for second place. Heat 2 was closely contended by the #47 of Brent McLean and #48 Brian Woodland, both changing positions every lap to determine who would win - very exciting racing with the #15 of Charles Priestley getting into the mix late in the race to shake things up! Early action had the #7 hit the wall and #2 loose a tire. Heats 3 and 4 went off smoothly with winners being the #67 Cale Bailey and #2 Richard Woodland respectively. The 20 lap feature won by #67 Cale Bailey had most of the action taking place in the battles for 3rd through 7th as those drivers did a great job racing for position with close, fast action all over the track. Great job everyone - see you all at Peterborough!

Sunset Speedway Aug 30th

Heat winners were Jeff Blackburn #07 with 2 wins, Robert Summers #4, Brent McLean #47, and feature winner Cale Bailey #67. The weather was fantastic but track conditions were slippery and most drivers took a few laps to get it right! Some cars had trouble getting to the track with blown motors, broken chains and heat race damage, but thanks everybody for pulling off another night of good racing. Three weeks in a row took it's toll on everyone, so rest up, get ready, and see you all at Peterborough Sept 13th!

Grand Bend August 23

Great night Hurricanes! We beat the weather as lightning and rain rolled in after our feature but a fun night on the track! Our heat action included some contact and a crash in the wall out of turn 4 and a few who had trouble getting started and getting finished! The 13 car feature was FAST and full of excitement as several cars had trouble or contact causing restarts to tighten the field and keep the racing action close! Great job everyone!! See you all next week at Sunset Speedway!

July 16/08 Important update for all members:

Beginning the next race night at Peterborough Speedway August 2nd, there will be an engine tech after the feature race for the rest of the year. A random draw of numbers 1-5 pulled by the winner of the feature will determine which car (in the top 5) is to be teched. Motors found illegal or refusal to tech will result in automatic disqualification for the remainder of the racing season per the Hurricane Midgets Rule Book.

Varney Speedway July 5th

Hey everyone, what a great time at Varney Motor Speedway Saturday Night. The weather was perfect and Ken put on a packed show with his 2nd annual Ribfest Celebration and mid-season action for his regular classes. Thanks for the invite Ken, we had a great time! There was lots of excitement in our feature race with cars changing positions and battles for position all the way through the field. See everyone next week!

June 28th Grand Bend Speedway

Thanks everyone for a great night at Grand Bend. The weather was trying it's best to fool us, starting out looking like rain and ending the night the same way. It was a very HOT afternoon as the sun came out and baked the track (and the drivers) - it got slippery (loose) for our first set of heats and then the track was perfect under cloudy skies for our feature. Thanks to the track officials for moving us up in the running order, so in case of rain we would get our feature race completed. Thanks to all the extra helpers who make sure everyone makes it onto the track and special thanks again Jackie for your help with scoring and taking photos!

Peterborough Speedway June 21st

Thanks everyone for coming out and making our Sauble debut a huge success! We had 15 cars and the weather was hot, the racing was exciting, the track was excellent, the fans were pumped and the track officials were fantastic! Thanks everyone involved for helping out and making it a great night!

Races cancelled Sun June 8th at Varney:
Due to the other support classes not showing up on Sunday the races were cancelled. Attendance points count for all Hurricanes who showed up to race. (We had 11 cars even though we raced the night before) Thanks Ken for letting us use the track all afternoon - we had a great time and the guys appreciate trying their cars! To make up for the race an extra date has been added to the schedule - Saturday July 5th. Thanks Ken!
